Privacy Policy

Account information: your phone number, optional email address (used for account recovery), name, and language preference.

Circle and financial data: the circles you join, your role, contributions, payouts, loans, repayments, entry fees, and fundraiser activity that you or other members record in the app.

Wallet and transaction data: your wallet balance, and the deposits, withdrawals, and transfers you make and their status, processed through our payment and custody partners.

Meeting recordings: if your circle Secretary records a meeting, the audio recording, its AI-generated transcript, and summary.

Messages: direct messages and the conversation messages of your circles, credits and fundraisers. They are stored encrypted in our database.

Documents and attachments: files you attach to a credit or share with your circle, such as receipts, photos and contracts.

Signatures and agreements: when you sign a cycle charter or a credit agreement, we record who signed, when, and the resulting signed PDF protected by a cryptographic seal.

Reports: information you submit when filing a complaint about a member or circle.

To operate your account and circles, provision and manage your wallet, process deposits, withdrawals and transfers, verify your phone number by SMS one-time code, send notifications (push, SMS, or in-app) about contributions, payouts, loans, meetings, and reports, and to review complaints and keep the platform safe.

When a meeting is recorded, the audio file is stored with our hosting provider, Cloudinary, and sent to OpenAI to generate a transcript and summary of the meeting. Only members of that circle can access the recording, transcript, and summary.

Conversation messages are stored encrypted. Only the members of a conversation can read them in the app: someone with direct access to the database would see only unreadable text.

Files attached to a credit or shared with a circle are only visible to the members concerned, who can view, save or share them from the app.

If you confirm a signature with Face ID or a fingerprint, the verification happens entirely on your device. Likelemba never receives or stores your biometric data; we only record that your device confirmed your identity. Signed charters and credit agreements are shared with the members they concern.

Within your circle: your contributions, payout status, loans, and repayments are visible to other members of that circle, by design: this transparency is core to how Likelemba works.

Service providers: we use Africa's Talking to deliver SMS one-time codes and notifications, Cloudinary to store meeting recordings and file attachments, OpenAI to transcribe and summarise meetings, Circle to provision and custody your wallet, and Stripe, MoneyGram, or mobile money operators to process deposits, withdrawals, and platform fee payments. These providers only receive the data needed to perform their service.

We do not sell your personal information.

We retain your account and circle data for as long as your account is active, and as needed to resolve disputes or comply with legal obligations. You can request deactivation of your account at any time.

You can access and update your profile information from within the app, and request deactivation or deletion of your account by contacting us.

We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections, hashed PINs, and encryption at rest for conversation messages, to protect your information. Signed documents carry a cryptographic seal so any alteration can be detected. No system is perfectly secure, and we encourage you to keep your device and PIN safe.

Likelemba is not intended for use by children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app.
